Position Summary The IT Consultant plays a vital role in our Technical Services Team. The ideal candidate is a high energy, customer focused professional with outstanding interpersonal skills and an ongoing commitment to quality service. They are a quick study in learning new technologies while possessing core skills in supporting business network clients. Preference is given to self starters who work well in a team and strive for the challenge of helping clients with their IT support needs. Core Duties - Assist with maintaining user accounts, software rollouts, upgrades, patching, anti-virus updates, system testing, spam filtering, and other duties as required
- Assure that Best Practice IT policies and procedures are properly observed and maintained
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems to isolate the cause and bring problem to a resolution.
- Implementing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Networks based on Active Directory
- Implementing and supporting Microsoft Exchange
- Configuring and troubleshooting Symantec Backup Exec (Veritas)
- Support of business class firewalls, routers and switches
- Effectively prioritize work using a commonsense approach
- Ability to work on multiple jobs concurrently
- Supporting client needs promptly and courteously both onsite and remotely
- Meeting goals and following direction set by Reboot Management
Requirements - A valid Class 5 Drivers license and vehicle
- The ability to be bonded
- Post Secondary education with a minimum of five years practical experience
- Good understanding of network topology and protocols.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Server 2003, 2008, Exchange 2003, 2007, Small Business Server, Terminal Services, Windows 7 and Windows XP Pro
- MCP or MCSE
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certifications
- Analytical troubleshooting skills
- Good customer relation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Must follow written instructions
- An ability to be creative, innovative, and demonstrate a commitment to quality.
- Maintain accurate work orders, logs, and documentation as required
- Occasional off-hours work to meet IT system demands
Other Assets - Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Sonicwall and 3com network products
- Experience with iSCSI and SAN networks
- Experience with Microsoft server products such as SQL 2005 and SharePoint
